Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual
healing. It works well in conjunction
with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and
promote recovery and is often used in hospitals and hospices along side other
complementary therapies.
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation
that also promotes healing. It is administered by the "laying on of hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows
through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force
energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if
it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means
"God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force
energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force
energy."
A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows
through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions,
mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and
feelings of peace, security and wellbeing.
In individual Reiki treatments, clients remain clothed throughout.
Kate will provide you with feedback of the areas where the greatest
“draw” of energy is felt and this gives some guidance as to where there are issues
(mental, emotional, security, etc). Kate
is happy to undertake a free short trial of Reiki on clients after a massage if
they want to experience first hand the nature of the therapy.
At Pure-Therapy we are committed to providing the best all round
therapy possible and Kate will therefore include untargeted Reiki as part of
her massage treatment (at no extra charge) if requested. The impact of this is to make the massage
more relaxing for the client. If the
client has no major health issues, such Reiki should be “sufficient”, however,
those with specific health or emotional needs would benefit from a separate Reiki
treatment.
